How to Ace Placement Aptitude Rounds (TCS, Infosys & More)

The topics that matter and a plan that fits your schedule.

The aptitude round is the first filter in most campus placements, and it is one of the most coachable. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Accenture reuse the same topics year after year. Consistent practice, not last-minute cramming, is what clears the cutoff.

The topics that actually show up

  • Quantitative: percentages, ratio and proportion, time and work, speed distance time, profit and loss, averages, and simple and compound interest.
  • Logical Reasoning: series, blood relations, coding-decoding, syllogisms, and puzzles.
  • Verbal: reading comprehension, sentence correction, and vocabulary.

A simple daily plan

You do not need six hours a day. Thirty focused minutes, every day, beats a weekend binge. Do a small set of questions daily, review every one you got wrong, and note the shortcut so you do not repeat the mistake.

Speed tricks

  • Learn tables up to 20 and squares up to 30. It saves seconds on every question.
  • Use approximation for options that are far apart, instead of full calculation.
  • Skip and return. Never let one hard question eat the time for five easy ones.
